myoderru03Harvesting .416 barrel off of Ruger No. 1?
I think I saw some threads on this, but can't seem to find them now. Would it be possible to take a Ruger No. 1 stainless tropical .416 Rigby barrel, and salvage it for my M77 MKII conversion to .416 Taylor? I'm assuming if it would, the finished barrel length would be roughly 21.5"?

ramrod340The Rigby is a larger dia case. The shoulder is .05" larger than the Taylor. You would have to be able to set the barrel back at least the distance to the shoulder. 2.25". Does the No 1 barrel have a shank long enough to do that? If it does then I guess you would just have a short barreled Taylor.
With the work involved wouldn't it be easier to sell the 416 Rigby barrel and just start with a new barrel for the Taylor.

lawndartIf you decide not to use that barrel, I might be interested in buying it. I mean, I would be interested, it depends on how much is in the barrel buying fund at the time.
