The .416 Taylor is such an efficient cartridge based on the .458 Win Mag case, I was wondering, is there a .375 cartridge based on the .458 Win Mag case? If so, what is it? If not, why not? In my .416 Taylor I get virtually the same velocity as my .416 Rigby. I would have to think that a .375 cartridge on the .458 Win Mag case would be very effective.

I believe that you are looking for the 338-375 Chatfield-Taylor round. The originators claimed that the round was
as good as the old 375 Holland. Despite the advantage of the 2.5" case, it never made much headway. Very dead now, with the upcomiong 375 Ruger I would expect...unless you just want one.

Yes...it's the 375 Taylor and sometimes referred to as the 375/338 as it's often made from 338 Mag brass as well as 458 mag brass.

It's also called the 375 chatfield taylor and it's roughly equivalent ballistically to the 375 H&H

BTW, I had the pleasure of shooting Mike's Taylor last weekend. Modest recoil and very, very accurate. It's a sweet little rifle.
