Sigarms Mauser Magnum
I may be way behind on this one, but I was on the SIGARMS website today and I saw that they are producing an exact copy of the original 98 Mauser. They even claim to be using the original 1936 drawings. It is available chambered in .416 Rigby, .458 Lott, .450 Dakota, and .500 Jeffrey. Again I may be way behind on this, but it looks like a nice gun and I thought it might interest someone. Here's a link for anyone interested.

Wow. That is a beautiful rifle. I've not heard anything about it, but would be very interested if anyone has an opinion of it. Wonder what it will cost?

$10K last year at the Vegas show. Vektors look identical, finish a little better, $1.8K.

They have been floating around for 2 or 3 years. They weigh way too much, and are not worth $10K.

If you know of a place in the US that I can order a vektor 98 as you described it for 1.8K, spill the beans, inquiering minds want to know.

Wes- see personal email. Tom Carter (TC Imports) & Butch Searcy are the US importers.

Foiled again!

Mr. Carter said he only imported their magnum mauser actions - not the rifle line. And as far as I know Mr. Searcy does the same. - It's a shame, I know they make complete guns, but there seems no interest to bring them state-side.

In all fairness Mr. Carter did offer to see what he could do if I knew exactly what I wanted, but as I'm unfamiliar with the models they make (and what they look like) I'm kinda out of luck on that one too.

I think that the vector is about $2K for the ACTION while the Sig is $10K for the RIFLE. Hence the significant price difference.

What I was actually interested in was their vektor 98 hunting rifles. I read a write up in SOF of all places for them a little over 5 years back. But, I've never seen them imported. There was even a dead link for them on the vektor-usa website before it went down.

The only two reference that I've been able to dig up on the net are from these two websites, and they are probably old and outdated.
