Dan416Hey Bill, Yes, it is the most common gun we have show up. We even let in the 9.3's.

What types of events, distances will we be shooting?

BitterrootThere's a Best Western in Hamilton that is clean. Also the Bitterroot Inn, which is nice, and will probably cost a little more than the BW.

Idaho SharpshooterBR,
does this mean we are not shooting the second weekend of June this year?

BitterrootNot sure !
That's usually 'Ol Bulls' shoot.
What's up Wally?

Dan416JCS, we usually shoot 2-3 shots on a black dot at 50yd one each from bench, kneel and standing for a warm up. Lots of DWG's from 25-50yd, in herds of 2 or 3. The charging lion is 2 jugs on a cart pulled toward the shooter from about 25yds, you must kill both or the score card says you got et up by the lion. Moose and squirrel: one DWG and one 16oz bottle at 50 yd. Running buff: Norma buff poster target on the cart pulled sideways at about 30-35 yd. Except the 50yd black dots, we use a shot timer and the start position is low ready with safety on. I reserve the right to change the course of fire based on my disposition, comments from the peanut gallery, weather, or whatever other factors may be present. One shot goes over the chronograph to make classifications. Bitterroot is usually all by him's lonesome on that one (once we had a 416 Weath. that was close). 45/70 lever guns welcome. Shooting sticks can be used in lieu of the one benchrest shot at 50yd. Stand on your hind legs and shoot like a man (or gal, I hear one's coming). Safety and muzzle control are non-negotiable.

Mark TDan,
I hope to make it this year. I missed last year and regret doing so. The first year was a blast!

Hello all, If you are coming to the May 21 shoot could each shooter bring 8 jugs? It will help me out a bunch.

Any problems if I want to run it once with my bolt gun and once with my double? I could try and bring 16 jugs

.
Sounds like it will be fun!

Silly question but, full or empty?
Is there water at your range?

Full. It saves time and the water pressure at the range is low.
I just finished the chamber on my 458AR an hour ago. Now to make brass...
Bump, it is THIS COMING WEEKEND!

It will be fun.
My 458AR needs some work on the left feed rail. Hopefully it will get worked out before Saturday. Wayne says to try a different follower first but it might require some milling under the rail to hold the ctg in properly.
Recovery time for second and third shots is a bit longer with the 500gr at 2200fps than the puny 416. Maybe I could tie a rope around the barrel just behind the front sight and step on it with my left foot.
Gene byf42 was here yesterday with his newly acquired 500/465 double. Way cool. 10lb gun but it feels like 8.5 in the hands.

Ol BullDan, sorry, but we won't be able to make it up for your shoot. WAAAY too much going on here at the range for me to get away. Hope too see you guys here June 11Th.

Thanks Dan, it was a BLAST! We all had a great time. Challenging course of fire and a nice facility.
All on a beautiful sunny day in Montana.
Life is good, (VERY GOOD!)

Got me so motivated that I am thinking of staging a little shoot up here. Already got about 10 yes votes from friends.
It came to me in a vision last night that I could level the playing field a little by allowing only two rounds in bolt guns, any third shot would require a reload from the belt just like for the double shooters. Would make for a bit more of a challenging drill to boot!
Thanks again to Dan for all of his hard work.
