A-Square reliability?
I've always been curious about Art Alphin's rifles. I bought a Hannibal in 375 Weatherby on Gunbroker a couple of weeks ago, got a good deal, and I'll play with it.
I was rereading Mike LaGrange's book "Ballistics in Perspective" last night, and while he seems to like the A-Square proprietary cartridges, he indicated that the reliability of the rifles was not up to dangerous game standards. Does anybody know what kind of issues he might be referring to?

I have had 3 of A square rifles (Hannibals)...2 in 416 rigby and one 460 WBY...all fed anything I gave them, all cycled smooth, and all shot pretty darn good...they are not good looking, but feed and function were perfect.

They are not beautiful. They have no checkering.
They look like a weapon for war against game.
I like the look, I must say. I like Rigby magazine
rifle looks too though. No accounting for taste as
they say...

Correct bullet placement, combined with the required depth of bullet penetration, results in an anchored animal...

My A2 Hannibal in 458 Lott performed just fine on three buff so far.
It is built on a 1917 Enfield action that is one of the best I own.
No problems & real happy with it.

The iron sights on mine were crooked, and the trigger pull was mediocre, but everything else has been fine.

gentlemen,

I wound up with a Hannibal through a convoluted series of trades. The rifle is chambered in .338 A2. It is in great shape and has shown very good accuracy. Are any of you guys interested in another A2 as I am in the process of simplifying my collection at the time.

If so drop me a PM, it comes with tons of extras as well. I need to count but it has nearly 200 rounds of factory loaded ammo and dies included.

I was going to put it up on the classifieds but after reading this thought I'd give one of you guys a chance at it first.

You enjoy that cannon. It's about the hottest shoulder fired .338 on the planet!

What will you target with it?

What shooting distance do you need to be prepared for?
I mean do you need to feel prepared for a 500 yard shot,
or a bit shorter, or longer?
