I need to put a set of rings and bases on my new Steyr SBS 376. I'm considering either the Talley QD rings, or the Warne Maxima rings. I'm leaning towards the Warne's because of cost (egads, can't believe I admitted that) and the "repositionable" levers (last set of Talley's I had ended up with levers pointed every which way).

So, are the Warne Maxima rings tough enough to stand up to heavy recoil, or do I have to bite the financial bullet and go for the Talleys?

I would certainly recommend the Talley's over the Warne Maxima rings. I think the recoil shoulder setup on the Talleys is going to be stronger than the Warne. The Talley rings are all steel, but the Maxima are aluminum. With recoil, the aluminum recoil lugs will get bashed up.
The levers on the Talley's can be indexed wherever you want them to be when they are tightened.

I agree with Ken's post. The Talleys are great! You can adjust the lever position very easily. Just push the bolt through the hole in the lever and rotate one notch until you achieve your desired postion. Of course, you will need to keep running them down to the tight postion to see where you are, but I think you will understand what we mean.

I also vote for the Talley,,,Warnes have a major flaw and that is the sping tension holding the levers allows the levers to flip around and that can and has locked up the bolt and murphy will only allow that to happen during a charge...or perhaps Murphy was just picking on me.

I went with Warne rings and KNOBS... so I could avoid the "Murphy" levers. I can't remember, but I thought my Warne rings were steel. I'll have to check.

I have Maximas on my 416 Taylor and so far so good. Just curious--what is the price for the Talleys?
