tankhunterMkv to lott advice
I have a stainless action Mkv 300 win i want to convert to 458 lott ,was going to sell it, but wanted a Lott and decided its easier to convert and keep this one .If the local gunshop has one,[right contour etc] iam going to use a Pac Nor stainless
1.best contour to use ideal weight etc ?
2.barrel length ? most practical ?
3.Does anyone make stainless Express sights if so whom ?
4.best QD mounts for Mkv action
5.Sensible velocity for Lott which does the job with 500 gr solids, soft points ,not interested in breaking records
Thankyou Gents

Hog Killer"I" would sell the Wby MkV and just buy a ready built Lott. It would be cheaper in the long run.
CZ or Ruger.....

chuck375Agree or buy a new M70 in 458 Win Mag and have it rechambered for 458 Lott

viperidaeI agree with everyone else, it would be cheaper to just buy a CZ or Ruger in .458 Lott. If you want all stainless and decide to rework the WBY then my advise is to NOT USE stainless sights. I went that route with an all Robar NP3 rifle (very similiar to stainless) and ended up not being able to quickly see or line up the sights. That just doesn't work in Lott world.

mwm464I was thinking very similar last year, but decided to go with a Ruger No.1 Stainless Steel in 458 Lott, which I've never regreted since.
- Added a little weight in the stock.
- Leupold 2.5x compact scope.
- Warne QR rings.
- Sorbothane slip on recoil pad.
- Modified the safety to throw cases clear out of the action.
Hornady factory ammo shoots less than 2" 3 shot groups @ 100yds. (2320FPS)
Barnes 500gr TSX w/ 74.0 grs of Varget (2050FPS) will shoot well under 1" 3 shot groups @ 100yds.

tankhunterThanks for the advice, but its getting harder to sell guns here ,people wont buy them unless they think they are getting it for nothing .The Ruger and CZ dont really appeal to me ,i would rather the winchester, unsure if you can get them here and cost , anyway will have a think about it, cheers

PoppaWI had a spare MKV in 338/378 so I am having it re-barreled to 510 Wells. I say go for it. Its an easy bigbore to do.
