McMillan stock for CZ 550 Big Bores: Who's got one and what do you think?
I've got a McMillan CZ AHR stock on my 9.3x62 and really like it, does anyone have experience with McMillan's stock for the CZ 550 magnum? How do they handle?

I have got one for my cz ZKK 602 and like it a lot, since it is a straight style safari stock that fits much better than the original monte carlo. Had to do some inletting myself though, since the inletting for the recoil lug were in the wrong place, and the barrel channel was not centered properly. A few hours with the dremel and some marine epoxy fixed it and it works like a charm now.

I believe that 470Mbogo-Dave recently put one on his CZ 550 in 470 Mbogo. He has subsequently sold said rifle to another forum member, so either of them may chime in to provide their thoughts.

I shot the rifle a few times with the new stock on it last spring. Seemed pretty durable to me.

Cheers,
Canuck

I have had a couple of them. McMillan did the fitting. I liked them.

I like the stock on the CZ that Canuck is refering to. For me is is just right for handeling the recoil of the 470 Mbogo. I am not sure of the original fit for the rifle though as Dave will have chime in on that.

If you have that much to fight for, then you should be fighting. The sentiment that modern day ordinary Canadians do not need firearms for protection is pleasant but unrealistic. To discourage responsible deserving Canadians from possessing firearms for lawful self-defence and other legitimate purposes is to risk sacrificing them at the altar of political correctness."

Oregon45, our stock for the CZ 550 was designed by us and manufactured by McMillan. We currently use another manufacturer for our 550 Magnum stock which has a similar design.

470 Mbogo
Hi Moose Hunter,
It's MMMbogo The M is a mmmsound followed by bogo which is just like it looks.

The McMillan stock was fitted by Bill Crosby and he thought is was very good. I liked the stock as well. The only thing that would make it better is if was a bit sticky or gritty so it would be non slip.
Bitteroot does the stock that you guys have deal with that? I was looking at your stock and wondering how it would be for my 470 Mbogo that I built on a 602 action.
Take good care,
Dave

I too have the drop in model on my .458 win mag. I really like it. It fits me pretty well being average size, and I learned to appreciate its stability this deer season in NH. The only thing I have done is bedded it as best I can. It is solid, functional and am very happy to have it on there.

RIP
McMillan CZ 550 Magnum stocks rock!
They hold up to 500 A-Square recoil just fine, even after having the barrel channel scraped and sanded until it fit this fat barrel with a secondary recoil lug on it, with hidden steel cross bolts and stainless steel pillars added in the glass bedding:

470 Mbogo, we use our synthetic stock on the 600 Overkill. It will handle anything else that can be put in it. We can add a fine grit in the finish at the grip and fore-arm and can pattern it to resemble a checkering outline. It woks quite well. PM Trophyhunter5000 about his 600 OK. His does not have the grit but it doesn't really need it.
