Contrats on your Winchester and welcome to "Club 375". I grinned ear to ear after touching off that first round a few weeks ago

. I'm now scrounging the "couch change" to scope my CZ550 Safari Magnum in 375 H&H. I have also pretty much whittled down the field to a either a Leupold VXIII 1.5x5 or a 1.75x6 and Warne QDs for mine.

Pray I have enough gun to stop a charge from the nefarious Nebraskan Chipmunks, those little buggers are mean......

I have a cz 550 as well and put a vx-2 on it with leupold mounts,but not quick release.Havent taken the scope off my /06 in 14 years.. just enough room for this scope..Great eye relief that I probably do not need as the rifle does not kick bad at all..Took a moose and a muley with it this year..

I have a Leupold VX-ll 2X7 on my M70 (late model) Classic in 375H&H and it fits fine. Not much room for front to back adjustment but it works for me just fine. I'm using Leupold bases and QRW rings.

You might also consider a rear peep sight. I'm using the NECG peep that mounts on the rear scope base, it sure works better for me than the stock rear leaf as I've gotten to an age where I can't see the rear sight very well. The peep means I'm able to use open sights again.

I have 1x4, 1.5x5 and 3X fixed scopes on all my DGRs, in fact on about all my rifles...I can take a long shot with a 2X up..I don't think power in a scope helps my shooting at any range with the exception of shooting varmints at very long range perhaps....I have experimented with this a good deal.

I've had really good luck with the 2.5x8 VXIII's. I have them on two .375's, a .416 and a .460 and haven't had to use extended rings on any of them.
Over the long haul you'll find the VXIII design will handle recoil better than the VXII.

Well I took my first shots with my new 375 H&H and it wasn't as bad as I thought that it would be. As a matter of fact I enjoyed the hell out of it! I set a target frame out at 50 yards and shot over a sandbag off the back of my truck bed. I used a PAST recoil shield and it felt more like a big push than the sharp recoil of my 7 Mag. At least until I scrunched my face too far down and took the recoil on my cheekbone, that smarted.
I had the wrong target up and couldn't get a good sight picture with the white bead. I guess I'm too used to shooting small black squares on white backgrounds and couldn't see the the black because of the large bead.
After the first shot to make sure I was on paper, the next two bullets were touching each other and the third was an inch higher and 1/2" left. I'm pretty pleased with it so far. I'll shoot it off of the bench next week over a big black circle and see how it does.
I am going to have to scope it though as trying to focus 46 year old eyes on the front bead was tough.
