Scope mounts
I dropped my action off at my gunsmith yesterday to start the building process. Decided on a Krieger Remington Varmint contour 1 in 12 finished at 26" chambered in the 375 Ultra Mag. Decided on a R700 action with a sako extractor (I know someone will comment on my choice) and an HS precision stock.

Since I have some time before I get it back, does anyone have any suggestions for scope mounts. I am leaning towards a Leupold 2.5-8 or one of the European scopes.

Any help is appreciated.

I am a firm believer in Talley mounts. Be sure to have your gunsmith enlarge the receiver screw holes to 8/40. That way a heavy scope will stay on the big kickers!

Are there any structural differences between the Talley lightweight mounts and their standard rings and bases...other than the price. Aesthetically I prefer the lightweights but I would use anything if the scope will stay put.

I would give Dave Talley a call. He is a great guy and will answer all your questions directly.

We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, Which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a President, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!!
