Does anyone have the new hornady manual? If so would you be so kind as to let me know the reloading data for the 325 grain flex tip bullet.

The pain with the FTX bullets is that you need shorter than standard brass. I don't have the new manual but I'll have to get it as I do really like the FTX.

Presuming your loading 45-70.

You can use standard length 45-70 cases IF you are very selective on the powder you use. The powder needs to be a slightly compressed load which precludes the more common fast powders used in the 45-70. With the compressed load, the bullet base sets on the powder and keeps the bullet from going in any further. The case mouth can be crimped just over the beginning of the ogive. This is exactly how Buffalo Bore loads the Speer 458-350FP which also does not have a groove in the correct place for standard length cases. If determining the proper powder is beyond your reloading skill level, trim the case as Hornady says.
