wheres the doubles?

Double Rifles, This is the weapon of a Jedi Knight. Not as clumsy or random as bolt rifle. An elegant weapon for a more civilized age.

Alaskaman11:

Good question. I broke down this year at SCI, and ordered a .577 NE Heym Jumbo from Chris Sells. I will not see the gun for 8 months.....but I'll post pictures when it shows up. Cheers. Chip.

I saw Ryan's rifles up close for the first time in Reno and was impressed. He does things a bit differently but does them well.

Chip, how does the Swaro 1-6x24 (presumably an EE model) work on your 505? Any scope-bites?

Looked at Ryan Breedings work at the 2012 DSC. His work really drew my eye, until.....I picked one up. I asked the lady working at the both (I suppose his wife) if a mule came with the gun. Holy mackerel, what a "chunk". I bet they weighed +13 lbs. and I mean all of them. They were all big rifles (Lotts, 404's, etc.) but no 600 OK's or anything of that nature.
Does he make a carry rifle or just jeep guns?

All nice but the slim lines of the Ruger appeal most to my eye.

I love Ryans guns...but they are a bit out of my price range.

Nice looking collection ChipB!

Hey, is that Ryan Breeding the one I set you up with...from Dr KIK (Aaron) in Michigan? Looks great all set up to hunt.

A Jumbo? Now you're talking. :-)

Looks sensible to me, and I would guess most of us are envious. My wife just told me, "Don't even think about it!" Big Grin

Heed the words of Winston Smith in Orwell's 1984:

"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

Nice guns and I'd say there is 1 "sensible" big bore in the group. But then "sensible" and big bore rarely go together. That's one of the reasons wel love them.

That Sauer 202 is a beauty. Nice collection.

PD999: Yes, that is the "EE" model.I use it primarily at the lower magnifications, and it is great. My aging eyes, (I'm 64), now require some assistance. So far, I have not been hit by the scope.

bigdoggy2bore: As I am not quite the recoil junkie as you are, my favorite is not the .600 Overkill. Rather, I'm most comfortable with the Sauer. I don't know if you've ever shot any of these Sauers, but they are really nice. When I first got it, I had some problems with it smacking my middle finger, (the one behind the trigger guard). I tried installing the little gizmo that you see attached to the trigger guard, but that didn't work either. I finally learned to grip the pistol grip differently, and that solved the problem. I call these a big bore collection, but compared to your guns, they're small bores! Cheers. Chip.

"Sensibility" and the Big Bores forum of AR only very rarely collide in the same sentence. Now, if you'd used "Rationalization" in your post title, you'd have really been on to something.

This is coming from a guy who bought a .378 and a .338 Lapua this week ...

Chipb, the really huge stuff is not for everyone. Some of it,due to weight is rather impractical, I'll admit, but I really like the big stuff.. Your guns are great, not a one of them that I would kick out of my safes. You can always load down a little on the 600 if you need too. No harm in that. I agree with Rob, only problem I see is not enough of them. But a really good start. I like the wood on the Ryan Breeding the best. I hope you enjoy shooting all 4 of them.

I think you will like the 577 double when you get it. Good gun and a great caliber.
