johnrigbyLooking for hand loads for 416 Rigby
I'm looking for any loads for a 416 Rigby, I prefer the IMR 4831 powder. I would want to load up 300 325 , 350 and 400 grain bullets. I would be using Norma brass and CCI 250 Mag primers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

BIG SAMMy load, which you should begin at least 10% less is;
(1) Norma brass. Full competition prep.
(2) Federal Magnum 215 'Gold Medal' primers.
(3) 'North Fork' 370gr. bullets. 4 thousanths off the lands.
(4) H4831SC 102.5 gr. gives 2500 fps. using a 'Lee' crimp die. W/O the crimp die, the same velocity was obtained with 105 gr. of powder.
Rifle is a Ruger MOD.77, late model.
This load will shoot 1/2" groups all day. My targets have been in magazine ads and the bullet that I shot through the shoulder blade, spine, and into the opposite shoulder of my Cape Buffalo with, is displayed on the North Fork web page. I recommend this load with out reservation. Your milage may vary, but please give it an honest try.
All the best,
Sam

jstevensI've been loading 400 Noslers in Norma cases, Fed 215 primers, RL-22 105 grains, goes 2611 in the 23 in. barrell of my Ruger. I haven't tried the North Forks in the .416 yet, but had good luck in the .375 on all African game.

475GuyThere is a very good article authored by Ross Seyfried that was posted by NICKUDU a little while ago. You can contact Nick and ask him to send you a zipfile on the article. Seyfried covers most the useable powders for the 416 for optimal performance.
