interchangability question

I'm aware that one can shoot .44 specials in a .44 magnum chamber.....but can one shoot the .44 Rem Magnum in a .444 Marlin chamber?

Yes, they have the same rim diameter.

Hello Vapodog:

The rims of the 44 Special and Magnum are, indeed, the same diameter as the Marlin rim. However, the base diameters of the cases are .010" smaller than the 444. You can do it, but the cases won't last and they might burst.

Possibly but I'm building a double rifle on a shotgun action. I doubt that I'll have feeding issues.

After checking ammo availability, it seems the .45-70 might be a better idea.....at least that stuff is available!

I've been making these handgun and shotgun boxes for local pheasants forever and ducks unlimited banquets and have started making them for two sets of barrels. I have a set of .30-30 barrels that fit a .410 side by side but won't display them here as they are fatally flawed even though they actually function.. The next set of barrels must be made quite differently.
