Buy her a win mag. Then you can share ammo. You can download the 458, as you know.
Or, buy her a 458 Lott, and, you'll never have to buy her another rifle.

9.3 x 62 will work on anything, but, she isn't going to be happy.

I disagee. She might be able to handle it OK. Many women can shoot the big calibers. Age alone will not necessarily prevent her from handling it.

I believe anyone needs to have some shooting experience before shooting the big bores and most 15 yr olds don't have this experience or the confidence required.

Some of the best shooters I have seen as an instructor, are 15 yao girls. They have no respect, no fear, and no superstition. The ability to shoot a big bore is attitude and psycic condition, age and weights are of little matter. Like one of them responded when I was amazed of her shooting, "I just pull the trigger when the crosshairs are centered in the bulls-eye." How about that, gentelmen?

True also for my history as an instructor..
The teenage girls listened and shot better.

I don't think it's just young girls. It's been my experience that woman who want to shoot the big stuff, listen to instruction and assume you know what you're talking about when you tell them what to do. I was instructing a lady on shooting a 7mm WBY off sticks, she was going on her first African hunt. She was learning how to cycle the gun quickly and twice she short sucked it. I didn't say anything. When she pulled the trigger on the unknown empty chamber there was no movement, both times. I'm not sure I could have done that. BTW she now out shoots her husband. She also learned about short stroking and hasn't done it since. Out of her 9 trophies 6 were one shot. All in the 200yd. + range.

She loves shooting my .470 DR and she's not big.

What have you got? I also thought of the 416 Taylor, as I have one of those also and agree it is an excellent chambering.

For the record she can shoot the rifle quite well, often kicking my ass in shooting competitions off the sticks. She is concerned about how quickly she can recover from the recoil and get off another shot quickly. This is the area where I can still whip her butt (rapid fire drill).

Come to find most women prefer the big bores to the high velocity medium bore magnums! I was quite amazed to see how quickly my wife took to shooting, its almost scary.

Not sure where you are, but you need to get together with some folks that have some of these and see if they'll let her try them out.

Big Bore Boar Hunter,

How does your wife like that 450/400? Has she shot it yet? My daughter liked it also, but preferred a bolt action.

ScottS,
I've got a Win.Mod.70 pre'64' super grade, a Mod.70 post'64' and a Savage SS Safari. The Pre'64' has had the stock slimed down for a smaller individual. The pull length is 13.5".

I can also build a nice .416 Taylor for less than the cost of the pre'64'Mod.70.

I also must vote for the Lott. So many .458
bullets out there and start her where you want to. AT 165 lbs I can shoot full house loads from a stock RSM .458 Lott with no trouble.
I would hand it to a 15 year old girl (reduced a bit) to shoot. They will learn whatever they
want to and will listen to you.

She hasn't had a chance to shoot it yet, the dies are on backorder and so is the ammo, evidently popularity is more than was figured.
