Ruger M77 in 458 win mag - Duracoated
I recently picked up a 30+ year old safe queen that had a few handling marks and only 1/2 box of shells through her. A Ruger M77 - old style tang safety and decided to have it Duracoated. I chose Tony Wetzel in Etters as he's had years of experience and does great work. I picked Parker for the metal. The stock was coated with a flat black and then overlayed with TangoDown Flat Dark Earth. Tony then did spiderwebbing in the same flat black. The combination came out really looking great. The light wasn't great when I took the pics but you can see the work Tony did.

I like tang safeties. I can take them off while shouldering the gun without moving my right hand position. Yes the M70 is very cool, and the safety blocks the firing pin, but it is a reach.

Hunteratheart,

I Duracoated the laminated stock on my Ruger #1 a couple of years ago. Several hunts including one to Zambia, still looks good. Duracoat is good stuff.

Is that the original wood stock with Duracoat? Mine split then got fixed and split again. I was looking for a laminate or synthetic and duracoat looks great.

WOODY

Yes it is. After researching and talking to Tony, it's quite common to do over wood. I like the fact that he was able to keep the original checkering showing and didn't overlay that with the spiderwebbing.
Should increase the overall strength\durability of the stock now that it's Duracoated.
