Steve LefforgeNikon Monarch Scope handle a Big Bore Recoil???
Gentleman
I recently had a gunsmith install a Dead Mule and a #4 contour barrel on my .378 Weatherby Magnum. I bought a new Monarch BDC Scope to put on the .378WM and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this scope on a Big Bore rifle. Can this scope handle the recoil?

Thanks
Steve

ClaymanWhile I don't personally have any experience with this scenario, Rifle magazine just finished a series of articles about various brands of riflescopes mounted on big bore rifles.
They took around 8-10 major brands of scopes and mounted them all on an unbraked 460Wby MKV. They tested scopes from the Bushnell 4200 all the way up to S&B and everything in between, including the Monarch. Optical comparisons aside, ALL the brands of scopes were fully able to stand up to hundreds of rounds of 460 without a problem. I'd say you're fine!

GanyanaI tested one for the African Hunter Magazine last year. withstood c400 rounds from a .458 Lott, .375 and 9,3x62 with no problems. Had a couple of scopes fail

That was one of the good ones

SnellstromWell I recently (last fall) had trouble with a 3-9x40 Monarch and a lightweight 9.3x62. Ended up sending the scope back in, it took a dump on mine 2 nights before Elk season lucky I had a Leupold VX-1 as a back up. The rifle is very light and short barreled and at about 200 rounds the windage and elevation adjustments went haywire.
Maybe a fluke?
