grizzinater458wm buffalo bore ammo
i recently bought a box of buffalo bore ammo to try in my 458wm and was pretty impressed, for me anyway. they were 450gr and they advertised 2250fps so i chronographed a couple and got 2243 and 2244fps out of my 22 inch barrel. Does anybody know what bullet they use? and has anybody done any hunting with this load?

RangerBobI talked to Tim Sundles once about these loads, but it's been a while.
I think the bullet may be Alaska Bullet Works (Kodiak). I checked their web page, and they do offer a 450gr for .458.
Also, I think I remember that Tim said that these loads had not sold well and that he was not going to make any more after his current inventory sold out.

500grainsIs the ammo loaded with softs or solids? If solids are they an flat nose style?
Sounds like BB is doing their .458 ammo right, as long as there are no pressure signs. Thanks for the tip!

tiggertateBB makes really good stuff, good quality components. I don't recall them doing many solids or most DG calibers. 458 isn't even on their site. They understand hunting NA as well or better than any ammo company out there. But they concentrate on handguns and lever guns mostly.

grizzinater500gr, they are a softnose bonded core. they sure have a thump to them. i hope they continue to make these, as there are no pressure signs and getting great velocity.

sierrabravo45We use the Buffalo Bore Loaded 405 Grainers in a 45-70. They sure knock over moose and deer good.

If you really have an itch, Tim will make you a custom run, of anything you want, at least he used to say he would, provided you buy sufficent quanity to justify setting up his machines for the run. He uses quality components, powders better then most of us can buy commercially, and does excellent work.

Omnivorous_BobI've never tried their 458 ammo, but everything I have used is top notch. Their 50ak 525s are listed at 1850fps but average 1866 from my 16.5" barrel. A few years back I while living in the bush I ordered some ammo via the internet and Tim personally called me 3 times to work out the shipping issues. You can't beat that for service! I reload for most everything I own but carry their 44 ammo when out and about.
