Remington CRF --- "798"
I had no idea that 'poster' has previously affiliated his-own-self with Remington... Eeker

He loboga hasn't posted often in his 'tenure' which leads me to believe he posts when he has something relevant to say.
And, he has a point...actually, a couple of them.
He hasn't said anything anyone else might have brought to the attention of this Forum...mainly that if someone doen't 'fit' the profile of the existing members --- they may be shunned or ridiculed out of existence here.
Then again, you have another poster here, jtinidaho, who questions 'authori-TAY'...
That doesn't seem to go over well here, either.

Have any of you long-time posters or those in positions of 'authori-TAY' ever stopped to consider that others who post here, regardless of how often or for how long, just MAY actually know something YOU DON'T?
Or, just maybe, they have credentials you don't know about?
Or, just maybe, they have the experience to question YOU?

Just because you're a Moderator or have a lot of posts here doesn't give you the right to summarily dismiss others who've taken the time and bother to join and post here as well.

I bring to your attention the NEED to welcome fellow shooters and discuss more what THEY might need or want than to press upon them YOUR particular 'edicts'.

To that end, I submit that the Remington 798 is a welcome addtion to the 'World of Firearms' and I hope it is something we can all 'cotton to'... Big Grin

The fact that Remington finally decided to market a rifle with CRF system is a break-through

remington marketed a CRF rifle for quite a long time, going on 26 yrs total, a very long time ago: the model 30 - and a fine rifle it was too - and its successor the m720. only been lucky enough to have one m30 and never an m720. this was before remingtons market approach to build something that at least functions but undercuts the competition by a huge margin by cheap construction methods. CRF is nothing new for remington tho.

Will, I think everyone over 40 yrs old knows about the Rem 30s, and most of us in our late 60s, and 70s remember them when they were a fairly new rifle. When they were being marketed, so did every other maker market a CRF rifle. Everything in those days was simply modified copies of the 98 Mauser!

The problem is about 40 yrs ago Remington started building junk, now they are paying for that mistake!

sor-ry; just keyed off the word "finally". took that to mean somebody wasn't aware of predecessors. one would have to be at least 59 to have been around at the end of the 720's production and abt 10 yrs older than that to actually remember when the 720 or 30 was available new.

Well, I'm 69 yrs old, and will be 70 shortly, and have been shooting on my own since the age of 6 yrs of age, and liveing in a ranch house full of guns, and shooters! There are a lot of discoutinued firearms I have owned, and more that I have shot, and seen! Wink

What I meant by the "finally" was, it is about time that remington responded to what shooters have been telling them for 40 yrs, not in regard to their 300 yr history! clap

It is a good thing they HAD to go to an action made by someone else! The luckiest thing for us is they found thier best buy on the actions, just happened to be a CRF Zestava Mauser action, that is a plus for the shooting public! beer
