Overkill from swedenHi PC.. I dont have the answer for your question but I want to ask you about how the betram cases have worked for you in the .585 nyati??
I know of one guy here in sweden that had a .585 nyati and he used betram cases and was not able to get past 2300 fps with 750grain woodleigh bullets. The bolt was "sticky" hand hard tp pull out the case when after fiered.
And a second question to you all... Is horneber cases still aviable? I tried to e-mail him but it says that his e-mail on is homepage is invalid.
I have speaked to a gunsmith here in sweden and he said he could bulid a .585 nyati (he has build one Before) for around 3500ยง...
But if the betram cases is the only that is aviable and only crap.. I dont think It is no idea to build a .585

GrandpasezEARLY BERTRAM CASES were problem but his new stuff
like our 585HE and 408 Cheytac can take any pressures
that any bolt action ever made can handle, and extract ok.
Our 585HEs and Cheytacs are made from same cups and draws on same
machinery, by him, just uses different headers, and sizing swages
and I tested 585 with 650gr at over 3000 fps. Extract easy...
Maybe make a 585HE and you can get these great cases direct from Bertram.
He is making another run of 585HEs and Cheytacs. We got first run imported to us
here last year, 3 barrels of them. I can't export out of US, but
you can get cases direct from him. I can send die sets and a reamer like
I did to Tankhunter in AUS or you can get reamer from Manson Reamer.
Any action that feeds Gibbs feeds our case on the right.ED
Ok the Bertram brass has worked well 750's with 135 gr of ar2209.....I have move that rifle on and have components here for another.
Ed do you think I shoul be clambering this rifle for .585 HE ? Does someone have a reamer In Australia already ?

GrandpasezYes tankhunter and his smith there, have a reamer,
and yes chamber it to our case. And it will get
three down and the Gibbs mag box on PH fits
the 585HE case perfect.Ed

Is it more power than the .577 T Rex ? Ed do you prefer your round over the .600 OK
Rang Bruce today and am buying a couple of cases from him to have a look at.

GrandpasezYes a little more power than Trex and
everything is less cost to set up and shoot
than trex and 600. Best thing is it takes high pressures like
Cheytacs as it is made from same cups and draws as Cheytacs
and he is making those all the time. So anytime needed we will
have a strong big bore case, in supply in volumnes
that allows for thousands of guys to get them.
The 585 has more bullets to choose from, of all weights, styles
and composition than any cal over 458, by far to use.
About 12 different jkt/solids and 15 different cast that I have
found without hardly looking..
We got regular and slow twist barrels here for 200
shipping included. About half of what other big
bore barrels are. That is why we like it.Ed
PS- I wish there was a 585 barrel guy over there...
PS- about trex cases--- a guy who worked there said they made
the draws with hydralics not stamping presses, cases ended up
thick and soft on the bottom half and don't have anymore
internal volumne than ours even though bigger at the base.
And our is longer also. Being soft if you hairy loaded
them they hung up. You want to see the air turn blue, talk to
Rob about Trexs....
