Ruger new side-by-side shotgun
Hello; I heard that Ruger will make a side-by-side shotgun for 2002, will this lead to a side-by-side double rifle in a year or two.

Considering Rugers track record, I'd believe it when I saw the shotgun and had the rifle in my hands!

Seems like another urban myth to me.

I don't know about Ruger, but I know Weatherby is going to have two models.

I heard that rumor last year. I wish with all my heart that the rumor comes true; but I wont belive it until I have shotgun and double rifle in hand.

For a fact Weatherby will be introducing a side by side shotgun next year. I believe the guns will be made in Spain. Good for Weatherby, it looks like Roy has seen another nitche in the market, and is going after it! I can't wait to see it, I'm sure the quality will be there, as with all Weatherby products. Bill T.

Bill,

The Weatherby guns will be made in Spain. I have thier new catalog. From the look in the picture they look like very nice guns.

There will be two models an athena and a orion, same names as thier o/u counterparts.

There will also be the introduction of a tactical rifle, production guns in 375 wby and 416 rem and the Super Big Game Master.

I am a big fan of weatherby, but I think they may miss the boat if they don't introduce a gun in the WSM line soon.

Reguards,

Bill

If Ruger is true to form, this gun will appear in their catalog at some point, but not on any dealers' shelves for about 3 years after that.

I will have to admit that Ruger has not always done what it said. However I am very pleased in general with the company. They are american made by a company that is an american company. Most can't say that. They did bring us a 416 Rigby when nobody else would touch it. Truo they promised us a 404 and didn't deliver. They gave us the #1 as a single shot when everybody said the single shot was dead. They created a stir and got interest in the single action revolvers way back when. I doubt that cowboy action would have become what it has today had not Ruger put good single action 22 pistols in the hands of so many of us. I have an over and under Ruger and would love a good sxs. We will wait and see. "D"

I've got their 2001 catalogue at home, they've got a picture of it in there. Looks like they might do it at that

I saw a Ruger over & under at the Shot Show a few years that had been converted to 458 Win. Looked nice & handled well .
