BiebsHarry, where did you get the Francotte in 416 Rigby? Does it have a 28" barrel?

eddiel4Francotte is no longer in business having finally gone under a few years back however I believe that Bob Beach at Griffin and Howe has copies of their records. Would love to see pictures of your rifle. Best of luck in your pursuit...

HarryThanks everyone for the help. I have tried the E mail and fax both that George gave me and both bounced.
Will try Griffin and Howe.
This may be the finest or certainly one of the finest dangerous game rifles I have ever had pass thru my hands.
24” bbl.
14 ¼” lop.
Horn fore end tip.
Small oval cheekpc. with shadowline.
Pistol grip cap with extra front sight inside.
Wide flat quarterrib with standing 100, folding 200 & 300.
Hooded front sight.
Bbl banded front sling swivel and front sight.
Straddle floorplate.
Single rear square bridge magnum Mauser right hand action.
Maybe 28 line to inch checkering and over the wrist too.
Red pad with leather face.
Nice wood with some figure but this rifle is what I equate to a ladies smart black After 5 cocktail dress with single stand of white pearls.
It will hold its own with any rifle around the campfire now and in the future .Never to be out of fashion.
In perfect condition as far as I can tell.
I have E mailed Francotte for any info but I am guessing made in the 50’s.
No holes anywhere for receive sights or scope mounts.
This is just the top end of a working dangerous game rifle to me.

HarryAlmost a twin to this. No reenforcing bolt, mine has metal pistol grip trap with extra front sight inside.
Mine has finer checkering and nicer looking rear sight with wide flat quarter rib having one standing and two folding.
When I get a decent photo later this week I will try and post it.
Thanks for the help and your photos. Most appreciated.
