The .375 Remington Ultra Magnum was introduced in 2001. A hell bender amongst medium bores, the .375 RUM is loosely based on the .404 Jeffery’s case blown out to maximum dimensions. While factory loads are powerful, these are very mild in comparison to this cartridge’s full capabilities. Maximum safe working velocities for the 26” barreled Remington M700 rifle include 3400fps with the 210 grain Barnes, 3350fps with 225 grain bullets, 3300fps with 235 grain bullets, 3200fps with 250 grain bullets, 3150fps with the 260 grain Accubond, 3100fps using 270 grain bullets, 2950fps with 300 grain bullets and 2700fps with 350 grain Woodleigh projectiles.

This guy's a nut. Wink

My brother's 375 RUM starts to crater primers with a 300gr @ 2800 fps - and that's factory ammunition. It is also one of the most unpleasant rifles I've ever shot, at 7.5 pounds and a tupperware stock.

I'll take my Lott any day.

Won one brand new. Sold it.

Still have factory ammo. PM me if interested.

Absolutely love mine in a Ruger#1. Bull elk at 535yds and a 2250lb bull bison at 150yds-both one shot.
Sure there is some recoil but that is hardly felt in the field.

Nosler state in their #6 manual it is the most accurate of all the 375's.

Doesn't Saeed use a wildcat version of this round? bewildered

Must be something good about it. Big Grin

IMHO, the #1 in a ~9.5lb package is a more proper venue for the 375 RUM. You should post a picture.

That being said, I developed some reduced loads for my brother's 375RUM, with SR4759 and Hornady 225gr bullets. Shoots like a 220gr 30-06 with a bigger hole. To Remington's credit, the rifle is very accurate.

I've made several other very favorable posts here on my .375 RUM. I've taken it over the pond twice, in 2005 shooting 300 gr Barnes TSX bullets and again in 2007 with 270 gr TSX's. Both bullets shoot three shot sub-MOA to 200 yds. I also developed a good reduced/practice load with 280 gr cast bullets that shoot an inch or less at 50 yds.

My .375 RUM is a stainless 26" Rem 700 that I put on a laminated Richards stock. The recoil was more than unpleasant before I had a KDF brake installed and put a recoil reducer in the stock. Recoil now is not at all unpleasant, even when shooting prone.

I've taken 18 African animals with this .375 RUM varying in size from Steenbok and Jackal to Buffalo and Cape Eland with shots from 30 to 348 yds. Most were one shot kills.

Unless I hunt Cape Buffalo again or go after costal Alaskan Brown Bears, I doubt my .375 RUM will see much more use. IMO it's just more gun than is needed for most North American game.

I've owned three 378's Big Grin

I'd rather have the RUM.......more accurate and not as fussy to load for..........
