Oldsarge,

what are you saying here, that the CZ550 only has a trigger safety?

I went to the gunshop during lunch, they had a CZ550 in .375. I must say that for the money it didn't look all that bad (disregarding the very plane wood etc), handled nicely, and not all that rough in the bolt action. It fitted me very good, the straight stock didn't give *me* any problems to align the iron sights. I'd change out the tiny bead, get a barrel band for the front swivel, do a DIY job to increase the attractiveness of the wood, and possibly look into that safety. I'd postpone trigger replacements till after trying.

According to the sales person, the new American version has some alterations to the stock configuration....any truth to that? He seemed confident about it, but only just, he couldn't tell me what modifications. If the stock is the same, there is no reason for me to go with a hog back stock. Of course I can't comment on how it would feel with a scope.

The length of pull was wonderful for me, but would be on the short side for big guys I reckon (I'm 5'6").

Any idea on what a safety replacement would cost?
