silwaneCant WAIT!!
WI have a Ruger RSM in 375 that I am going to be taking to Namibia in October. I decided to do a little customizing to the rifle to make it mine. I recieved the call from Turnbull today that my parts will be shipped tomorrow......

I spent about $700-800 customizing and tweaking the rifle. I bought the rifle "used" as in it had been owned by someone for 3 years but never fired. Hell the bolt did not have one mark on it as it had never been put in the action, and the trigger gaurd still had the safety tag attached. I paid $1000 for it, so I figure that spending another $700-800 on it was negligable, not to mention fun.....
I will post pics once I get it put back together. Here is a rundown of the things I have done to the rifle.
I had a member here on AR, Roger Kehr, inlay a .025 gold line on the fixed and folding leaves of the rear sight.
Had the stock bedded.
Had a Pachymyr decellerator installed
Had additional crossbolt installed
Installed Timney trigger
Put hevier spring in floorplate latch
Installed Warne quick release rings
Polished bolt, raceway, cartridge ramp, follower, inside of extractor ring.
Replaced slot head action screws with hex head screws and Nitre blued.
Nitre blued bolt stop lever, floorplate latch arm, latch arm pin, rear sight set screw.
color case hardened grip cap, sefety lever, bolt shroud, and trigger gaurd.
had Charity Littleton three pannel checker bolt handle.
Worked up a load for 300g TSX that shoots 3/4" all day and WOOOHOOOOO!! cant wait to put it all together...
Just had to share........

CCMDocSounds excellent. Nothing like having something different and doing something special with it. I have the folks at AHR doing their magic as a gift for my dad - now just trying to convince him to come to Africa with me - he thinks he isn't up to it.
Anyway back to you, your trip and your rifle - OUTSTANDING - have a safe and exciting trip.

Sound like she will be a beauty. Looking forward to seeing the pics.

dsitemanLike you said, you got a heck of a buy on the RSM to start with and lets you really add to the class act the rifle already is to start with and might add, Turnbull does super work.
Have same rifle and did the Turnbull work you mentioned but did go ahead and have him do the factory steel scope rings. Turned out really nice. Those RSM's are a real value for the dollar I have always felt.
Did the 1st three items on my RSM in 375 and it is one great rifle. You're gonna like your finished product.
Best of luck.....and, of course...post pics.

You forgot to have set of retractable wheels installed.
I would have done nothing except to shoot few hundred rounds to get used to the rifle and to make sure it works. The $ saved on price of the rifle could have been used to pay someone to carry it for you on your big trek.

Paolo!
The RSM 375 is a bit heavy for caliber, but IMO the CZ 550 375s (of which I enjoy) falls into this category as well. What silwane has is a smithed 375 that shoots well and will be VERY easy to shoot. You can argue weight but one can't argue about having a rifle that you are comfortable with, is reliable, and you can shoot well with condfidence! Good job silwane. Post pictures please!

x2mosgSilwane, Good for you. Now you don't have "a" rifle, you have YOUR rifle. I know the feeling. I had my M70 375 all dolled up last year by Roger Ferrell. A little more extensive than yours, but yours came with some of the features I wanted. I also had him "slick up" my RSM in 416 Rigby this spring. Not as much as yours, but all the functional stuff you mentioned. Go forth and kill shit. Have fun.
