retreeveraction for a 500 Jeffery
What action would you use to build a 500Jeffery...This will be a working hunting rifle and will have a stainless steel barrel...

the enfield 1914/1917/rem model 30 will work, WITH A LOT OF WORK
the cz 550, starting as a 416 rigby, is FAR easier
the 460 weatherby based 500's are FAR FAR FAR easier and cheaper
just the voice of experience on this one.
and the 550 mag and 550 express fit easily in those actions.
other actions will, without $$$ mag box, only offer 2 down

500grainsI think the more important question is who you will use for a gunsmith to build a .500 Jeffery. Gunsmiths who can get a 500 Jeff to feed flawlessly are few and far between, and they cost real money. May I recommend Duane Wiebe or Ryan Breeding?

Does anyone make such a box for sale on its own? I am thinking of building a 500, either a Jeffery or something based on the 460 Wby case. I havent been able to find any after market mag boxes for the big cases for sale, but surely there is someone out there making them?

cr500How long until CZ brings out the 505 Gibbs. I was thinking these actions will make a great basis for any of the real bigbores such as 500 Jeffrey,550 mag 585 Nyati and 600OK. Any new on when the CZ550 505Gibbs will be available.

OldsargeThe last anyone heard, the .505 CZ will be unveiled at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas in January. Those of us who won't be there are hoping that there will also be a CZ booth at the SCI convention in Reno where we have a better chance of looking.

has the 550 been shot yet? I am curious to see the #s to see how it does or did at the range. It seems like an interesting round I have just have been waiting for a range report.

I have an enfield action 470 capstick dies and brass I have thought about parting with. the 600 ok is getting close if she doesnt blow up and kill me I most likely will take on building a 303 british double on a shotgun frame. Between my 458wm (proven on buff and elephant) and the 600ok I think ill have my bigbore needs covered.

i forgot you are doing the 550 express thats the slightly shorter version isnt it?
I cut the extractor slot and threaded my overkill barrel Sunday. I hope to remount the barrel this week and attach the recoil lug barrel band and sights. Getting close.
I hope to pick up a couple of 303 barrel blanks shortly and start my double project next.
Ps I got even with the wife the other day My middle son said she asked him what does it mean to be a cunt?
