Need help with 600 OverKill
I am purchasing a 600 OK from Mike in Alaska. I have already discussed a supressor with my friends at Shooters' Depot. They are 100% confident they can make a supressor that will reduce recoil to the level of a .223 while making the rifle shootable without hearing protection.

One of the bits of information we need is the pressure generated infront of, and behind the projectile with maximum loads.

Anyone with information that would like to assist in this project please don't be bashfull. I need your help.

Andy

Thats got to be quite a trick? What do they plan - Construction of a complete outhouse attached to the muzzle? Big Grin

I want to see videos of the finished product! Big Grin Maybe you could take a 50 BMG can and drill the hole out to .620 plus whatever oversize. Good luck!

You guys joke, but I have witnessed 1st hand 50 BMG singleshot rifles shot with regular ammo and no hearing protection neccessary. Anyone else that doubts lets put our money where our fingers are doing the typing. I will wager the entire cost of the suppressor it will work exactly as claimed. I know the quality of work these guys do. This one will be a unique model. Jack says it is not possible to open a 50BMG can to 5/8. The baffles will not work properly. I plan on having this done by the big bore Hoot and Shoot in the fall. If they would allow 50BMG to be shot I could probably convince the owner to bring one with a full suppressor to demonstrate their product.

The supressor builder IS the person that fires the first shots. That way Jack can guarantee it will work as promised.

They have a lifetime warranty on all of their systems!

I've fired excellent suppressors on .50BMG's so I have no doubt it will work to reduce noise, but have my doubts about recoil reduction levels. Didnt notice any significant recoil reduction with them.
If you want the recoil and noise of a .223, why do you want a .600OK? The can will be 10-15 inches long and pretty wide as your burning 80% of the powder weight of a .50BMG. Dont you think it will look ridiculous and handle like a Mop?-Rob

Rob,

I want wallop without all the noise and discomfort. It can be had for a price. As far as no recoil reduction it obviously was not a Shooters' Depot system.

Look the only way a suppressed .600Ok will achieve the recoil level of a .223 is if the suppressor is a huge HEAVY CAN. My bet is you will need about 10lbs, assuming the .600ok weighs 12lbs to start with. Do the math! Best of luck and let us know how it works. Pictures please.-Rob

Will the rear sight be mounted on a whip antenna? Drew - how long is your neck? Find a photo of a Panzerfaust and that's pretty much what you'll have when it's done.
