.60 Caliber cartridges
Hello this is my first post. Has anyone seen a wildcat in a true .600 or .599 caliber. It would be the biggest buildable here in California. If it exists already that will save me a lot of trouble. Marshall Jones

Boy did you come to the right place! You might want to look in the back log in the gunsmithng and big bore forums. do a search on the user "Robgunbuilder" too. his signature pic is this:

He got 2400fps with a 900 grain bullet, that's 11,510 lbs of muzzle energy!

The biggest of what is currently available would be the 585 Nyati or T-rex. The 600 OK uses .620" bullets.

Curious, are 12, 16 and 20 gauge shotguns illegal with slugs in California, as they are all over .60".

If I lived in California these days, I'd have a 12 GA FH. It fires a `1000gr .720 bullet at 3000fps. It's completely california legal as it also fires 12 ga 2 3/4 shotgun shells. It's just a 12 Ga shotgun under the law! I think California also allows for special licenses for DD's.-Rob

I know about the 600 OK and shotgun slugs. Unless someone else already has it I plan to build my own .60 cal cartridge. It will have a .599 bullet instead of the .620 that current cartridges have. I didn't want to duplicate efforts if someone has already paid to have the odd ball barrel tooled up for. I plan to rebarrel the 577 T Rex that I shoot now.

The fourth one is my 600, the 620 HE. Case is 3.85 inches

long. Should get a 900 gr up to 3,000.
