Wow, that is a bit of a personal attack given the people posting on this thread! I have never seen Ray get that malicious unless discussing my politics!

new_guyYou can add at least one Ziegenhahn 700 to the lengthy list
He also builds a "round body" trigger-plate action in the DMB style.

500grainsThere is a nice video clip of Mr. Hambrusch shooting the rifle at his website. It is more controllable than my .600 NE was! Nonetheless, I am not man enough for these calibers (or to carry the rifles).
You can find the video at
www.ferlachguns.com under "Mega Rifle Corner".

bulldog563I have been told that it has accounted for 8 or 9 Tigers.

bulldog563Where is the video? Went to Mega Rifles corner but found only pics.

MHC_TXIn the video clip it looks like Mr. Hambrusch is trying to do some version of a "Texas Two-Step" by the second and third shots. Also, seemed to have difficulty cycling the bolt after the 1st shot.
Interesting though!

AtkinsonBoy howdy that Holland 465 gave me the gilflurted shudders, I want it!!
The .700 is a toy boy for folks that ought to go get a full time job, they don't have enough to keep them busy!!

They keep showing up because folks want bragging rights to them but after shooting them or packing them from the den to the living room they is tuckered out!

Best thing about this thread is there are just some awesome rifles being displayed on it...

Sixgun SymphonyWhat is the case length of the .700 NE?
I am thinking that if it is too much kick with smokeless powder, that it could be tamed by loading with blackpowder and still be a useful hunting rifle.
25 October 2005, 05:00
700 nitrothe case length is 3.5" and i will probably soon enough owen another 700 i love that caliber to much probably in a faquson type rifle.
ray i killed a elephant on my first shot with my 700..........of course im half the age of most people that owen one..............

velodogWhy is it that everytime someone makes a post about a bigger bore ,someone who hasnt got the balls to shoot anything bigger!! than their 375 H and H ,and 450/400 ,has to chime in and say ''all you need is a 375 or a 450/400 ''evidently have a complex, about anyone owning something bigger or better than they have !!you would need two full time jobs to afford one !!! but if some people can ! good for them !!!!

GregHeinWe currently have three .700 singles in process and are building two bolt actions (actions only)with .812 diameter bolts for a .700 rimless. Another gunmaker commisioned these.
Reamers, barrels, brass, bullets and dies are all easy to find. I suspect the .700 may be more popular than anyone thinks.
We are currently accepting job applications for a "crash test dummy/ sight filer position if anyone is interested.

GrandpasezGreg-The 700 Rimless you mention, what case is it made from, and does it have any other name,
Can you give us the cartridge specs?
What is the costs of this larger bolt action you are making, and is this cartridge going
to be high pressures or same lower pressures as
the 700NE.Ed

Perhaps, but if downloaded as you mention it would no longer be useful for elephant as penetration would suffer too much. And since the .700 NE was designed as an elephant cartridge, that would defeat the purpose. The 8 bore is a fine black powder round which could serve the same purpose with black powder, but has a more impressive-looking bullet.

Paolo9,5x73It was brainchild of Hollywood guy who had everythitng including several dozen double rifles. He wanted something larger than .600NE.
Pretty useless caliber, but if you have EVERYTHING else.....

Why not, indeed.

26 October 2005, 09:29
GregHeinI do not no the finer details of the 700 rimless I mentioned. I was insrtucted to allow for a loaded lenth of 4.020" and that it was going to be either a 50 BMG case with a belt or a 700 nitro case minus the rim.
I will ask the gunmaker who commisioned these if I can disclose any other details.
26 October 2005, 10:50
GrandpasezGreg-The excitment builds as they say.I was curious as my shorter 700H belted
case with a bullet would work at that length.
My short case is 3.25 in long. My long 700HE
is 3.87 in.My cases are made from BMG brass.Ed

Paolo9,5x73Say, does that "Hugebrusch" come with a blank- firing harpoon shooting attachment? Is AP tungsten "fleschette" load available?

blaser93Only thing I want to know is what tree are you picking from to buy these rifles. Tellme so I can buy one.
02 November 2005, 02:31
700 nitroyou only need so much penetration to get the job done.......
