<magnarps>I'm a weak person...............
Today I couldn't take the pressure anymore.
I went to my favourite gun dealer and purchased myself a CZ 550 in 416 Rigby.
I thought I might do with my 308 win and 9,3x64 Brenneke for moose, but no....
Anyone else get that strange feeling in their body when you see a rifle that you want so bad, but really don't need?

ReconoSure! Where do you think my CZ .416 came from?

RobgunbuilderIt's March and the ground squirels will be coming out from hibrenation. I'll let em eat grass and each other for a few weeks then teach them all about big bores. New class this year!I think the 500A2 will be used for instruction-Rob

Those rabbits of yours sounds like new members of the "dangerous game" species.

Magnar,
I don't know of anyone weaker than myself in a gunshop...I had purchased my CZ .416 less than a month ago and the next trip to the shop saw its smaller brother sitting on the shelf. Yep, I really _needed_ that .375

<magnarps>Gentlemen.
It's a relief to hear that this is not just some kind of disease that I alone suffer from.

Kentucky NimrodAnd here I thought all you "Norskees" were stoic, reserved, and ultimately practical folks who stayed in out of the snow and drank Vodka all winter long. Are you sure you aren't a Norwegian immigrant? Did you used to go to Southern Germany in August and vacation on the Bodensee?

<Daryl Elder>It's incurable. My latest bout was with a Sako Finnlight in 30'06. The last I heard, there is still no cure in sight! Alas...

aHunterIts dangerous! One of these days I go broke at some really good bargain!
I dont have too much guns. There are pigs, red deer, roe deer, chamois, foxes.... That on windy days, rainy days ( stainless ), woods hunting, mountain hunting, combine that with mondays, tuesdays ...

460wbySome years ago I went to a local gunshop, JUST to take A LOOK on a rifle I'd been told that he had on his shelf.
When I returned home I was not sure how I would survive my wife, when it occured to her what that had happend in the gunshop.
The story is; that I had my Mastercard in my wallet.
When I drove home I had an BRNO 602, chambered for 460 Weatherby Mag. lying in my backseat.
Do I NEED a 460 WBY, in Norway???
NOOOOO, but I've never regret the bargain. Its not for sale! (If you ask me, dont my wife!!)

<magnarps>To 460WBY...
You are to blame in this matter here. After firing your 460 I got hooked on something big.
See you at the range soon.

JKS I am goin through the same terrible gut wrenching pain and suffering as well because I have wanted for some months to get a buddy cz 550 in .375 to keep my .416 company. As soon as this .585 is paid for it will be joining my .416.
Stupid thing is I purchased the .416 as it would do the .375's job and a little of the .458 and bigger job. But now I have decided all spots must be filled. Then I will have all the guns I want
Regards PC.
P.S. Yes Magnarps the rabbits attack were we shoot.

<pshooter>Ever seen those huge teeth on a rabbit? They scare me. I think you guys have the right idea. Can't have to much gun!

LV Erici've been charged a number of times by rabbits out here in the wild wild west. therefore i have a 458 win, 450 dakota, 577 t-rex and a 50 bmg, etc. its only a matter of safety......nothing more....i'm not weak........nope not me......

<magnarps>LV Eric.
That is one mean rabbit. I see the need for these big bore rifles out there in the west.
That is obviously just for your own safety, and has nothing to do with need.
Be careful out there. We don't want to loose a fellow "forumer" to those killer rabbits.

<CARR4570>You guys are killing me! I get an insurance settlement here shortly and was going to splurge and get me a 375 HH, but I keep reading these post and now I can't get Mr. Rigbys cartridge out of my head! To hell with the rabbits, what about those damn groundhogs!
Go for the .375 H&H Carr4570!
Holland and Holland's almost perfect cartridge is perfect for varmints!
I have a .375 H&H and 200gr Sierra bullets (intended for the weakling .375 Winchester in a lever action) are fantastic varmint bullets from the mighty .375 H&H!
You won't have enough groundhog left to need throwing down its hole!
Are there any thin-jacketed bullets (intended for lower velocities) which would do the same in the Rigby?
Ah, decisions, decisions!

<magnarps>This thread is really getting out of hand.

If I lift my CZ up to my ear and listen carefully, I can hear a low voice from the action: "Take me to Africa, please take me to Africa"
Or could this just be inside my head? If this goes any further, I'll find myself in a hospital guided by two men in white coats speaking soft and gently to me.

<pshooter>I can hear it to! It's like the sea shell thing. My wife can't hear it though and I think that bothers her. :}
