Heym Express Rifle - 375H&H. Is the current 2016 Express a true M98 design?
G'day gents Smiler

Quick question please
Is the new 375H&H Heym Express Rifle built on a copy or close copy of the M98? If so who builds their actions? Gottfried prechtl?

Thanks in advance

The actions are made in-house by Heym. They don't have the M98's third lug but it's probably no longer such a big deal with today's steels.

The Heym Express has all the necessary attributes for a fine, fine dangerous game rifle. It's close enough to the M98 that I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

Thanks for chiming in the info mate Smiler

Re - the "third lug". Would it be safe to say that the Heym Express uses the 'root of the bolt-handle' as the backup?

If the action is built so that bolt handle closes into a notch then yes it could function as a 3rd lug.

As usual just my $.02

The bolt-handle functions as third lug, yes.

There is also a safety lug on the 98 Mauser in case the 2 primary upfront lugs fail as well as the bolt handle serves as a fourth lug.

I don't know about action purity, but the one I got for my son 2 years ago is a beautiful rifle and completely reliable. I thought a bargain for what it is

Does it have the same ejection system as the older one?

I talked to Roger about buying this rifle and most likely should have. Here is his opinion on the Heym

The Heym Martini Express Rifle has the largest bolt diameter of all the "Magnum Mauser" variants.
Both the action and magazine are specifically machined per calber for the most precise feeding.
Heym barrels are precision cold hammer-forged.
Other than optics and sights Heym constructs the rifle in its entirety.
The stocks are select European Walnut.

As Mr. Rule indicated , the fit and finish is excellent.
Current caliber offerings are 375H&H,404 Jeffrey, 416 Rigby,458 Lott, 450 Rigby.
