bmpreglerInfo on double rifles
I'm planning on someday being able to buy a double rifle and would like to know as much as possible about them and their cartridges when I get serious about buying one. What are the best sources of information. Other than this excellent forum.
Thanks
Brandon

Read the following books:
BIG GAME AND BIG GAME RIFLES, and AFRICAN RIFLES AND CARTRIDGES, both by John Taylor
BIG GAME RIFLES AND CARTRIDGES and KIETHS RIFLES FOR LARGE GAME both by Elmer Kieth
SAFARI RIFLES by Craig Boddington
THE RIFLE ITS DEVELOPMENT FOR BIG-GAME HUNTING by S.R Truesdell
SHOOT STRAIGHT AND STAY ALIVE by Fred Bartlet
Then go to Champlin Arms and talk to George Caswell and handle some double rifles.
Try to shoot some double rifles.

AtkinsonI will add to the above, that every one should have both vol. 1 and 2 of Graeme Wrights "Shooting the British Double Rifle".....

The Shooting Field - Holland & Holland
Game Guns and Rifles - Akehurst
The Hammerless Double Rifle - Gray
In addition to the above, subscribe to "THe Double Gun Journal" and pick up as many back issues as you can find. A person can never have too many of those in the bookcase.

Atkinson. I saw you wrote about volume 2 of "shooting the British Double rifle". I only have the first one, I didnt know he,s made another one. I will get it for sure, its got lots of good info on double rifles( except where I can get a H&H .470 at a price I can afford).
