Die Ou JagterCZ 550 Safari
Went to a gun auction this afternoon, not really looking for anything but they had a CZ 550 safari basically new 15 rounds down the tube. $725. Yea I know but I do believe the buyer would have gone a lot higher.

RIPEd,
Don't be a tease.
What cartridge was it chambered for?
What stock did it have.
Did you buy it?
See any flintlocks at the auction?
Here is a flintlock that Rusty McGee did in the school of John P. Beck of Pennsylvania, shoots a .395-caliber lead ball,
and my 400/.395 NE by same gunsmith.
Got yours sorted out?

Die Ou JagterDidn't buy it as the winning bidder was almost stepping on other bidders so I am sure he would have gone higher.it is a 416 Rigby. Had a nice wood stock, nothing great but nice. I have a 416 Rigby in a #1 which I prefer. The biggest surprise was a Remington 541 S .22 went for $725. I thought it was a bit much but at auctions one never knows. The funny thing about the 22 is that it belonged to another friend of mine and I was at his place one day and he had me shoot it and it is a tack driver. The next day I went out and bought one (541 S) and it is still my squirrel gun 40 years later.

I would think that the recoil might be described as "BRISK"?

BwanaColeHow do you think the .416 Rem recoil would be in a 10lb Mauser M03? I just traded my .375 Mauser Basic M03 in for the Africa .416 Rem(still have a Weather .375H&H back home) but have not fired the .416 yet. In fact, I wont be able to even have it until December as I bought it here in the UK but don't have one on my ticket. I bought it with the understanding that I will ship it to Texas in December when I repatriate back home.
I am also still thinking of acquiring a Ruger No.1 Boddington 450-400 when I get back as well.

We have a M70 Classic in 416 Rem that weighs about 9 lbs without scope, sling or ammo. Recoil is not bad at all shooting factory 400g A-Frames.

lawndartDie Ou Jagter,
If you decide to let that #1 go, let me know. Between some lead in the stock, and an hydraulic recoil reduction system installation, it might be passably bearable.

I don't know about the Mauser but I shot one made by Ultralight Arms that wasn't bad at all. Since it wasn't mine, I don't know exactly how much it weighed but probably no mre than 8 lbs.
