biggest bore
Is there a limit on how big a bore we can have. Not for hunting in the states just a maximum bore that we can own and shoot at the range. Thanks.

I think that the most powerfull rifle for hunting and for target shooting is a .700 BMG IMPROVED

500grains
You can buy a 4 bore cartridge gun if you want. If memory serves, the bullet is 1.00 or 1.10 inches in diameter.

A 2-Bore is bigger. But the .700 BMG IMPROVED have more energy and the 1000 grain soft point bullet will expand to a bigger diameter than a 4-bore or 2-bore.

I was actually thinking about a 1.62 bore. No kidding!! Would this put me at the top of the BIG heap. And once again yes I am serious about the 1.68" size. Not for hunting just for playing around with. [Smile]

I don't know about "TOP OF THE HEAP", but if you let it get away from you you'll be dropped IN A HEAP! [Eek!] I sold a 577NE double because I simply did not enjoy shooting the damn thing! [Roll Eyes]

I don't want to reveal too much until it is built but it wil be a 1.68" bore diameter. And to those who are wondering it is not a joke it will be real. Before I started construction I wanted to make sure that there are no restriction on a bore diameter of this size. I would hate to spend the money and then have the BATFE or some other yokeale with a badge take it away. If all goes well I should have it in about 6 months. [Smile]

Ok the projectile will weigh 704 grains. Remember I said early on that this is not for hunting and only for just shooting. The whole thing will probably only weigh 9 lbs. The reason I posted here in the beginning is so that I could find out if I could legally own a barrel with a ID of 1.68". Sorry for using the word bore out of context earlier. So for those of you out there thinking about taking elephants with the lastest and greatest trust me IT'S NOT FOR HUNTING. [Smile]

That bullet must be about 1/2 inch thick. What does it look like?

Fellas I don't want to give away my idea yet. I know that nothing is new under the sun but this one will sure be different. The projectile is perfectly round. As soon as I get all the details worked out with Virgin Valley Custom I will gladly post pictures.
