<lb404>404 Jeffery feeding problems
Could someone recommend a gunsmith that has experience with Pre-64 model 70's and can make a 404 Jeffery project a reality. I commissioned a 404 on a pre-64 long mag action. Rick Stickley did the work and Winston Elrod the stock. The rifle is beautiful but it won't feed well enough to be a dangerous game rifle. It and the 375 were done about the same time by the same makers. Both have made enough round trips to have cost me and extra 750.00 and neither are still right. I give up.I need some help.

David WDennis Olson in Plains, Montana can do the job.
He just finished reworking a .404 on a BRNO 602 action for me.
His number is 406-826-3790.

Bwana-beBetter yet, try to find a disappointed customer of John Ricks.
Might take you awhile, though.

HunterJimlb404,
I would use a gunsmith who has built a .404 Jeff on the pre-64 M70 action; D'Arcy Echols comes to mind as a candidate for the "Mr. M70" title.
I expect there are some other gunsmiths out there with the experience -- I know Thos. Burgess has built .404s on the smaller actions. (By smaller actions, I mean actions smaller than the BRNO/CZ square-bridge actions such as the M98 or M70.)

500grainsMr. Echols has said that he does not repair rifles. He only builds new ones that are flawless.
How about Atkinson?
