Gerhard.DelportBig Bore Shoot - South Africa
The past weekend we attended the Firearms Festival at Ellisras. This was the 20th year that this festival has been held.
It is also one of the highlights of the Big Bore Association of South Africa (BASA) as we arrive on the Friday afternoon, pitch camp, make fire and have a good time talking hunting, shooting and big bores.
Appart from the Big Bore range there were the following ranges:
- Proamm (PMP) grouping competition
- Chasa field shoot
- Caly Pigeon
- Pistol range
- Pin shooting
- 22LR
- Big Bore Range
The day was opened with a black power shot from a replica of the three inch canon used at the Battle of Blood River in 1838.
The day was completed with a team competition called Boer vs Brit were teams of 4 shoots falling plates against each other with the team who puts their 16 plates down 1st winning.
Team Double Trouble with double rifles won the event (BASA Boys)

JCS271I am guessing you used a four-wheeler or a truck to pull that steel skid plate with the lion Targets on it?

We make use of a charge box to simulate a charge with a target coming in at 8 meter per second.
You can have a look here for more info on the charge box
