David B460 Weatherby
I was just wondering how many 460 Weatherby rifles are in circulation, estimates welcome. Thanks.

SnowwolfeI would think Weatherby could answer that question for you better than we could
My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

David BOK I'll call them. Thanks for the input.

HammerYears ago called Weatherby with the same question. Talked to their historian, who was very helpful.
Told me there had been a fire that destroyed many older records.
His estimate was that there had been a total of less than 10,000 460 Weatherbys and less than 1,000 left-hand 460s.
If my memory serves me...

Well i have a .460 WM but not a Weatherby Rifle!
It shoots accurate and not too hard with the Triple Mag recoil pad...

Allan DeGrootWell... I know where atleast one 460Wby Mk5 rifle is.
My brother's gun safe.
I wonder how many were factory equipped with the
built-in-the-barrel Pendelton Muzzle brake?

SnowwolfeAs far as I can remember it was not an option for the brake. They were standard from the factory.

Yeah, it was "standard" but his was the last year they used the pendelton "de Kicker"
the next year they used something else, though I don't know what...

My 460 Custom Shop has what looks like Magna-Porting. I was never sure if this was factory or not but it does help with recoil management. The fit, finish and handling is as good as my Colt Sauer.

Allan DeGrootThe "pendelton" brake has a freebored area at the muzzle where the barrel is ported and the porting looks similar to the many small holes on a Marlin guide gun. (for want of a better description)
it is machined directly into the barrel, it is not a screwed on "appliance"

Thank you Allan. That is exactly what mine looks like. Glad to hear that it was factory. It is LOUD but it works. Double ear protection is the key at the range.
