If you can get a copy of Walter's CAD disc, I can get you some free time on a friends CNC machine this fall.
JCN
I have found a load:
Varget 81 grains
400 grain Woodleigh RNSP
Norma brass
GM215M primer
Ave. vel. for 3 shots = 2401 fps
SD = 3 fps
ES = 6 fps
This is about a 95% load density with this bullet and powder.
My best guess of pressure is < 51,000 psi.
There is room to use 400 grain Swifts and TSX's with no worries of compression.
Saeed gets higher velocities with his banded monometal 400 grain Walterhog.
I would too if I had such a boolit.
BTW the max load I tested was 84 grains of Varget, giving 2490 fps in my gun.
I think my 81 grain Varget load has great potential for any 400 grain bullet.
I might even add a dacron filler to prevent any shake of powder granules whilst bouncing around in travel. It is unseemly to grind your powder down to a faster speed down the road.
