Arild IversenRemington APR / AWR in 375 H&H
Friends..
Im about to shop for a 375 H&H rifle for general big game use. Not African DG ( lack of funds

) but African plains game are on the whising list as well as moose and bear.
I would love a Magnum Ruger, but Im also courious about the Customshop Remingtons APR and AWR. Any of you guys and gals having any experience with them ??
This is not a CRF / push feed matter, but simply a question about quality, precicion and reability.
And what do they do in the Customshop that diverts from the standard M700 models ?
Any tips apreciated.
If you cannot afford the Ruger then opt for the CZ 550 over the Rem 700. The cz is a much better foundation for a good .375 IMHO. I love mine, there all steel have express sights also have a 6 shot capacity and there accurate and there CRF.

500grainsI do not know the APR and AWR models specifically, but a friend of mine has two Rem custom shop rifles in 375 and 458. They have nice looking wood (but not exhibition grade) and have a bit better sights than stock. I would say that there are about US$150 to $200 in upgrades on them compared to a regular 700.
Personally I would prefer a CZ550 or model 70 for less money. But the remingtons shoot well.

MikelravyThe APR is my favorite Remington rifle. Having said that the CZ and Winchester are cheaper and the Ruger is much nicer for about the same money. Plus I think a 375 should come with open sights.

FinleyI would shop around for a nice Whitworth Express. The 2 I've got both have nice wood and are excellent shooters. Plus, they can be had for around $500-$700 if you do a little shopping. Just my thoughts.

<mikeh416Rigby>I have an APR that is pure joy:balances well, and shoots great. I've had it for several years now. Last year I bought an APR in 300 Ultra Mag, and it looked great but shot terrible, and factory cases were very difficult to remove! I couldn't get groups under 2 1/2 inches at 100 yards with Factory Ammo. I sent it back to the custom shop for a look see, and they returned it with a letter stating that it was repaired. No more stuck cases, but it still wouldn't shoot worth a darn. I sent it back again, and after a couple of weeks had it back to me with a letter stating it shot up to their standards. A target was enclosed that had a 3 shot group of 1.3 inches using the Scirocco Loading. I was shooting the Partition Loads and asked them to shoot it with those loads, as I had no intention of using the Scirocco, only Partitions. They said they wouldn't, because it shot up to their standards with one of their loadings, and that's all that mattered. I've since dumped the rifle, and won't buy from Remington again.
