loud-n-boomerSpeer 350 grain bullets in the .458 Lott?
I am looking for a deer and varmit load for my .458 Lott. Does anyone have experience with, and loading data for the Speer 350 grain bullets in the .458 Lott?

500grainsTo answer your question, no I do not.
But I did get some pretty good data for the 400 grain bullet in the Lott. I think I pulled it out of the Barnes reloading manual. If you do not want top velocity, you could just use the 400 grain data as it will be a big light for the 350 grain slugs.

Paul HYes, and I found where I stashed the data on my drive.
350 gr speer hot core, seated to the rear canalure, 76.0 gr Reloader 7, CCI 250, 2400 fps from a 21 1/2" barrel. They were quite accurate, and recoil was relatively mild.
The Lott should be capable of 2700 fps w/ a 350 gr, but I was after mild mannered accurate loades. I'd also be loath to try that bullet on game @ 2700 fps. I did shoot a 1" steel plate with it, and it left a crater the dia of a 12 ga slug ~1/2" deep.

Thanks for the data. At 2700 fps, it should be just the thing for our sabretooth ground squirrels.

RobgunbuilderThe load Paul H describes is the same as the one I had for my 458 Win. It shot 1 inch groups at 100 yrds. I don't have a Lott but my 450 Ackley data should give you a place to start. I used 72 grs of reloader 7 with the 350 Hornady's and Fed 215 primers. Depending on your rifles throat, I put a second cannelure on my 350 gr Hornady bullets to allow for a longer COL. This seemed to help accuracy. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one using a big bore on the Meadow Grizzlies!-Rob

Paul HI tried heavier doses of RL 7 w/ the speer 350, but the groups opened up. As I recall, I was grouping 1 1/2 - 2" at 100 yds, iron sighted.
I also used the Hornady 350 gr rn, at the most accurate load with it was 80 gr RL 7 for 2525 fps.
