TellyStronger magazine spring for CZ
Where might I find a stronger magazine spring for my CZ in .416 Rigby?

Ted GorslineHeym in Germany makes fantastic magazine springs for the CZ and any other rifle and they make excellent followers for any calibre you may wish to name. My local gunshop ordered one for me for a 500 Jeffrey and both the spring and follower are perfect. The springs are strong.

For something closer to home, try Jim Wisner; parts@wisners.com
I have his in both of my CZs.

jstevensI haven't tried it, but I've been told you can order the +10% spring for a Mauser from Brownells and use it in a CZ.

Well, he is the one to ask for sure. That'a why I included the link; but I believe they were $15 shipped (ea). As much of his stuff as Brownell's carries, it's probably the same unit.

southernshooterTelly, I just put 2 of the Brownells mag springs in CZ 550's, one 416 and one 375. Noticeably stronger and the snapped right in with no problem, probably took 30 seconds to make the switch. Also, the extra strength greatly helped but did not completely solve feeding problems on the 416.
Obviously, I recommend the switch.

I shoot a 450 Dakota on CZ 550 action (AHR) and see that the follower is same for 375 and 416 Rigby.
Have any of you guys tried a different follower like Ted ordered from Heym? I was wondering if it would help feed FN solids?
Also wondered if any of you have seen a steel magazine sleeve that has a vertical ridge on it to keep the shoulder of the ctg in place under recoil?
Finally, what do you guys do to increase magazine capacity a little but? I get about 3 1/2 450 Dakota ctgs into my magazine and owuld love to have 4. Has anyone shaved down the follower a bit to pick up some height or a slightly deeper floot plate?
thanks, Andy

470 MbogoHi Andy,
I'm in the process of having a deeper floor plate put on one of my 470's. I'm not sure if it's enough yet. I had a 1/4 inch deeper magazine box made up. So hopefully the combination will allow 4 down without too much tension against the spring and follower. I'm thinking the stronger spring by Wisner and maybe a different follower might help also. The deeper magazine floor plate is by Wisner also supplied by Tiggertate. The fellow from Australia that's building a 470 Mbogo sent me a picture of his floor plate and it was easily twice as deep as the Wisner floor plate.
Take good care,
Dave
