Parker Hale 98 actions??
There always seems to be an abundance of Parker hale sporter rifle (98 type action) in 270 & 30'06 as they were always a very reliable rifle for general purpose hunting. Are these actions junk or in fact suitable for building a sound 458 on??

They will handle a 458 Winnie easily.

I built a .458 AR on one previously chambered in 7mm Rem Mag. Had to mill the rails forward to get it to feed. As I used M98 bottom metal I had to window the magazine to get it long enough and three rounds down.

Works fine.

Am going to replace the trigger and safety with an FN left side safety before it goes to Africa. Would like to find an FN extended magazine release as well.

Trying to learn to make pretty scope mounts al a Stratton for it. We'll see how that goes.
