GOB.416 Ruger
Hi,
We have made a Custom .416 Ruger and a .416 Taylor. They both are based on a Mauser action with 26 inch Douglas Supreme barrels. We have had great success in both with Barnes TSX bullets in 400gr. using IMR 4320 Powder. I just wonder if anyone out there has had good results with the 4320 powder? If so what loads did you work up and what bullets? I have just picked up 100 North Fork .416 400 gr bullets. Never have used them does anyone have any experience in Africa with the North Fork?
Thanks,
GOB

mad_jack02All I can report is data used in my 416 Taylor using IMR 4320 and 350 grn Speer bullets. This was a starting load and is very mild, and shot good enough to go deer hunting, later this spring I'll do some more load development.

AtkinsonA number of years back I used IMR-4320 in the 416 Chatfield-Taylor. as it was the best load I could find, and also had good luck with IMR-4064.
I recently built a couple of .416 Rugers on Mauser actions, right after the 375 Ruger hit the market and brass was available. I use RL-15 and found it a bit better than IMR-4320, but RL-15 and IMR-4320 have about the same burning rate. As I recall I got about 75 FPS more with RL-15, hardly worth a worry..I would use the one that gave me the best accuracy..RL-15 gave me the same 2400 FPS that my 416 Rem gave me.
