458RugerNo1.375 300gr Failsafe accuracy?
Any of you guys tried the Combined Tech Failsafe in 300gr .375? Looks like a helluva tough bullet but not sure how the accuracy is on this one...? The BC is extremely high (.441) so retained velocity should be high and with the Moly coating should be easy barrel maintainence I assume? I've never used moly coated bullets so if there's any comments on those they are quite welcome too.
Thanks!

HunterJimI tried the 300 grain .375 H&H Winchester factory FailSafe load in two .375 H&H rifles, neither rifle would shoot this ammunition with acceptable accuracy. I don't shoot moly coated bullets normally, and I didn't coat the bores with moly before trying.
I hear good things about the 270 grain FailSafe factory load, but I have not tried it.

bwanamrmIt's funny, no two guns shoot certain bullets the same. I've had quite good luck with the factory loading in both the 270 grain and 300 grain. I have taken buffalo, Grant's gazelle, impala, zebra and Coke's hartebeest with the 300 grain Failsafes in Tanzania in 2003. In 2002 I shot blue wildebeest, zebra, waterbuck, kudu and warthog with the 270 grain load. The terminal performance of those bullet was excellent. I recommend you try it and see how they shoot, you never know until you try!

Mike375When Failsafe ammo first came out I was given a box of the 270 grain ammo to shoot in a 375 benchest rifle....yes, 375 benchrest rifle!! but chambered with standard chamber with JGS reamer.
They shot right at 1/2" groups at 100 yards.
In general I have found 375s to be more accurate with 300 grain bullets so it would have been interesting see how 300 grain fail safe ammo would have gone.
As a side note, on the same day I also tried some 140 grain 270 fail safe ammo and that also shot around hald inch, again, in a benchrest rifles with standard chamber done with JGS reamer.
