magnum action bolt throw
Hello, I am considering purchasing a .375 H&H. My one reservation is the long bolt throw, when I shoulder a magnum action and work the bolt, the bolt always hits me in the nose. Does anyone else have this problem, do you think this would be a problem in the field? I am 5'11'' and average build. I have also considered a 375 hawk, 9.3x62 or a .375/.338 win (.375 Taylor), on a standard action. All my other standard sized rifles fit me fine. thanks

In the heat of the moment I have never been able to keep the stock on my shoulder completely so bolt throw is not a problem. Nor do I think it is a big problem to raise my head out of the way to avoid the bolt.

I suppose that is just an individual situation since you seem to be disinclined to get smacked by the bolt! So...stick with short bolts????

The LOP on that rifle might be a tad shorter than on your other guns.

I use a 13 7/8 or 14 inch pull on big bores, and I am 5'10". I do not get smacked in the nose.
