Rimmed Brass - Bolt Action Magazine Rifle?
Rimmed Brass - B/A Magazine Rifle?

Is the only "disadvantage" to using rimmed brass in this type of
rifle, that you ought to use a magazine with a curve in it's shape?

If yes, what exactly is the "disadvantage" of a curved magazine?

Correct bullet placement, combined with the required depth of bullet penetration, results in an anchored animal...

Seems to me magazines like the Win 1895 just needed the rims to be placed ahead of the rim below it to avoid feeding problems.

The .30-40 Krag has a side box magazine but I seem to recall the cartridges were just dumped in the magazine.

303 British in all those Lee Enfields all those years was rimmed. The mag wasn't curved that I could see.

But if you got the upper rims behind the lower, you would have fun.

I would mention they were also used in the Bren, but the mag was curved way worse than a banana. Wink

Mauser made slant magazine '98s for the 400/350 rimmed and 303s as well as the Siamese Mausers which had a rimmed cartridge and are very popular converted to 45/70.

Correct, the rear of the magazine was not curved it was at a slant. The usual discipline of putting the rims in front of the one below was required.

Photos are in this book. No they don't cost $900 if you look, more like $200.
