Jeffe, what was the date of mfg of the 455/70? I have the info buried about the meeting of the minds and the agreements made. Gonna have to dig it out, may take some time.

In my opinion the 45e was the most viable ctg for Marlin to have produced a new lever gun in. 20 inch barrel and full legth magazine, it would have been a fantastic carbine. Years ago they made a 45Colt and like a dumbass I sold the one I had and the guy won't sell back to me for 3 times what he paid for it.
