Winchest M70 recall
Just got a notice from Winchester about a recall for M70's made since Dec 2000 for unspecified potential problems. They won't say what's the matter, just to send it back. Any of you know what's up? I have the stainless 375H&H with the sights on the barrell in synthetic at Shooting Star Rifles and I'd hate to ship it to Winchester and have a big old delay but since it's being bedded/restocked I have no choice unless gunsmiths are allowed to correct whatever it is the matter...

Cheers, RJ

RJ,
There's nothing on their website about a recall.
What form did the notice take? E-mail? Letter?

Please advise as to serial number ranges.

I've never heard of a recall notice that didn't describe the problem(s) or include a serial number range.

Thanks,
George

It's my understanding that only stainless M70 are being recalled because of some undersized safty levers. If you call Winchester they will confirm this. This recall is for stainless M70's only and those made since the end of last year.
