I need some suggestion for 375 H&H ammo.

Since Federal released high energy 375 H&H which push 300 gr at 2700 fps. Can it be used in an old chamber rifle?

vintage around 1950s on Mauser action 24" barrel.

Yes. The ammunition is designed to be shot in any modern bolt-action.

Anyone got any idea wether handloaders can get this velocity ??

When I get my .375 H&H I would like to drive the 270 grain bullets as fast as I can, I know I can get 2700 fps with a 27o but 2800-2850 would make it flatter shooting again and not put it to far behind the newere .375 ultra etc.

The loaders of 'high=energy' ammunition allegedly use a non-canister powder and 'different' loading techniques.

The VihtaVuori 500 powders might be a good place to look if you're interested in adding some zip to your ammo (or you could re-chamber to .375Wby).

I still prefer 2400 to 2500 max...with any big bore.

Practically, we are not a handloaders, because it is forbidden in my country. We use factory ammo all the time.

To be sure, are you talking a 1950's vintage commercial Mauser action? Or a military Mauser action from ?? that was built into a custom rifle in the 1950?

If it's a commercial FN mauser action or equivelant, it will handle the pressure no problem. They used steel that was first-class and the workmanship was second-to-none. There are a couple hundred thousand such actions still in use all over the world that easily handle magnum calibers like that with any factory ammunition.

If the action was originally a war-time military mauser made by slave labor....that might be completely different. Some of those made in the late years of the war got a little sloppy and the steel might be suspect.

Chances are, with your rifle being modified to accept a H&H length cartridge, it's a commercial quality action. It will handle the ammo without problem.

Sorry I don't want to add to what has already been said. I think your only problem would be if the M98 action is a 1944/1945 WW2 action as has been suggested. Otherwise ammunition manufacturers are very careful with loadings as they don't want to get sued.

I am interested in do you hunt Banteung in Indonesia ie seeing your "alias" ? And what other game? There used to be great hunting opportunities for Moluccan Rusa in Papua New Guinea on the Fly River/Bensbach Plains so presumably Rusa would also be on the West Irian side of the border as well. unfortunately, Banteng is forbidden to hunt, eventhough they are plenty enough.

Twenty years ago the game was open, but unofficial hunting is still going on today.

It is a tough creature and majestic.

Moluccan Deer, they are forbidden either to hunt. I think the Sumatran Sambar Deer is more attractive. Its size equal to Elk and tough but smaller antlers
