GrandpasezHell yes-Your supposed to be big bore..HaHah..Ed.
Since you are in the Big Bore room some probably will.
However, that has been done a long time ago. The 250 case is actually very efficient. Probably anything less than 7 mm bore, it is actually more efficient than the 308 case.
Before the 260 came out, Jim Carmichael had loaded the 6.5 bore into a 308 and a 250 Savage case. I am sure they went with the 308 case because it was more common. However, the IMHSA ( or whatever they acronym is) use the Savage Case for their pistols a lot. Parker Ackley talked about the efficiency of a 270 Savage.
Even the 6mm/250 is starting to become a popular round,. with the AI version also.
Wrong board, but good idea. I'd personally go for the 6.5 version myself.
Cheers and Good shooting.

Gonzo FreakPowerOnly reason I might make fun of you is if I thought you might thereby be persuaded to ship it to me. I'd love a 7lb 250Savage. What a joy that would be to shoot.
Don't ever let these masochists make you think less of yourself for shooting a pansy cartridge. If you just can't live without the pain at every shot, just tuck the butt into your crotch a few times.

GrandpasezJeffe--For 2 at a time build a double and pull both
triggers--Never could see all the cases of about .258-.264 diameter as the Savage was all we needed I think--Ed.

Lar45I think a 94 Swede in 250 Savage would be a sweet gun. I have a 25-06 and it hits deer like a lightning bolt. Most of the Deer that I have shot with it have dropped in their tracks and never twitched afterwards. I have connected on a few out around the 500yd mark also. Plus with a light HP, it makes pidgeons explode.
Now what is your definition of cobbled?
It couldn't be worse than my 30 Erin pistol.

GeorgeSNo, you need something to shoot while the big bores are cooling off.

tontoIts something we all have to do once in a while. Going to a cowboy action shoot tomorow. Will be shooting massive 38sp,44colt and 16gauge. Hope I can handle the recoil of that 1866 lever in 38sp!

AtkinsonI cannot think of a finer gun that a standard 250 Savage, I have killed a truck load of deer with one and more than a few elk in my misguided and misspent cowboy youth, as did my day and a couple of his brothers..We never found it lacking in any way...I still have that old Savage M-99. I will someday build me a bolt gun in that caliber, or perhaps a Ruger 77 International manlicher in 250, I like that idea...
I abandoned the 250 some many years ago when the new and fantastic 243 came out, I used that 243 for a few years and sold it and went back to the 250..I know the paper balistics say the .243 is a bit better, and many say they are equal, but that was certainly not my experience..

RustyJust when you think you know someone. . . . .

Not if it was a 6.5" round

Hey jeffe, speaking of small bores, do you think your new machine could mill down a new NECG single blade rear sight for my old Sauer Mauser sporter? That puppy is still shooting about 7 inches high at 50 yds, and I'd like not to touch the original front sight? I'd appreciate your help on it. Also, I'm eagerly awaiting getting my Whitworth back from Hill Country, They're installing a PME safety and timney trigger and smoothing the feeding. Bob
